The role of a transition manager is to manage a period of transition or change within the organization and to put plans and processes in place to ensure the long-term success of the organization. He may also be responsible for managing specific projects during this transition period.
More specifically, the transition manager may have the following responsibilities:
- Analyze the needs of the organization and establish a transition plan to achieve the objectives of the organization.
- Manage transition projects and ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, shareholders and customers, to manage expectations and concerns during the transition period.
- Prepare and implement training plans to ensure employees are prepared for the transition and have the skills necessary to succeed in their new role.
- Help create a positive company culture and foster employee engagement during the transition.
- Work with the leaders of the organization to put in place structures and processes that will allow the organization to operate on its own once the transition manager leaves the organization.
