Introduce yourself !

Didier L’Hôte, I have been a Transition Manager for about 7 years in the role of Director of Maintenance and New Projects.
Trained as an engine engineer, since 1993 I have had some great professional experiences in very diverse fields.
I have traveled the globe and its 6 continents for various professional missions for companies in which I have made more or less long passages.

What does interim management bring you?

Interim management gives me an open mind on many areas and companies. Being very curious by nature, I like to know and develop my multi-service skills. I consider myself a “jack of all trades”.

What do you bring to companies?

I bring my experience, a new look at the maintenance profession by communicating my analysis without judging. I then identify the areas for improvement and the strengths of each company in order to establish a specific action plan.

What are your first actions when starting a mission?

At first, I am very observant. I listen and communicate with the maintenance department(s) to understand how it works. After about 15 days, a first assessment is carried out with the main axes defined by the company, as well as mine, to arrive at a change in the service and an improvement of it.
Be careful… sometimes the task is cumbersome and can take longer than initially planned. Reims wasn’t built in a day…(laughs).

Do you have any tips for succeeding in this job?

The first piece of advice I can give is to be yourself. You should not arrive in a company and consider yourself the “savior” of it. Knowing how to listen and being proactive are also essential qualities. Emotional attachment is to be avoided. Often, we meet technicians with whom we create bonds that are sometimes difficult to undo at the end of the mission.
Fortunately, there are still means of communication that allow you to keep in touch and sometimes find those people with whom you have already had the opportunity to collaborate.

How do you see the future of interim management?

I think that the activity will develop more and more and I see, at my level, a bright future and contract opportunities.
It is true that companies are making more and more use of this type of service. Interim management makes it possible to invest in the short term to then sustain their activity.

Reactive Executive in a nutshell?

It is the first firm with which I work, which is so involved in the integration of their collaborators and in the follow-up throughout their missions. For me, the communication is excellent. The managers are very friendly, open to conversation and attentive to the problems that we may encounter.
